Born into a broken home in Wichita, Kansas, Davontae Harris knew struggle before he knew football. Homelessness, instability, and a speech impediment were the obstacles life placed in his path before he ever stepped on a field.

It was the Baker family who became his mentors, providing stability and belief when no one else would. Davontae didn't even start playing football until late in high school, yet his raw talent and relentless work ethic caught the attention of Illinois State.

A life-threatening injury nearly ended everything before it started. But Davontae fought back, defied the odds, and heard his name called in the 2018 NFL Draft. From the streets of Wichita to the biggest stage in sports, his story is proof that your beginning doesn't define your ending.

From a small-school prospect to competing at the highest level across 7 NFL franchises.

2014-2017

Illinois State Redbirds

Walked on and earned his way to becoming a standout cornerback. Recorded 6 interceptions in his career and caught NFL scouts' attention from the FCS level.

Cincinnati Bengals

Drafted in the 5th round (158th overall) in 2018. Made his NFL debut and contributed on special teams and as a reserve corner.

Denver Broncos

Claimed off waivers and saw significant playing time. Recorded 21 tackles and showed his ability to compete against top-tier receivers in the AFC West.

Baltimore Ravens

Joined one of the league's top defenses. Contributed to the Ravens' secondary and gained valuable experience in a championship-caliber system.

The foundation provides mentoring, resources, and opportunities for at-risk youth in Wichita and beyond. Through camps, community events, and one-on-one mentoring, Davontae is paying it forward and creating the support system he wished he had.
